Education for Photographers
This was such a sweet Kimbell Art Museum engagement session with April and Kirby. The couple, the color of the natural light and the day were a perfect combination for this session.
April and Kirby met in 2009 at UTD. April had started her first year of undergrad and meeting people. A mutual friend, who is actually April’s maid of honor, invited some friends who did not go to UTD over to hang out with them. Kirby was one of those people. Afterwards, they started dating shortly after meeting and have been together ever since. After undergrad, they have been long distant for the past 10 years. Kirby, in Dallas and April has been in Houston and Austin. They bought a home together after they were engaged in 2020 and it was finally completed in 2022. Now they’re finally living together and ready to throw a wedding to remember!
They both enjoy traveling and eating. Hence, they love to try new restaurants and cuisines. Spending time with their family and friends is something they make an effort to do regularly. In addition to this, they enjoy watching shows on Netflix and spending time together.
First, in the beginning of 2020, Kirby initially intended to propose during a girl’s trip he coordinated with April’s best girl friends as a surprise. However, March comes around and everything has changed with the pandemic. Kirby and April hadn’t seen each other in months due to being in a long distant relationship and the quarantine. He was finally planning on visiting Memorial Day weekend in May. Little did April know he had planned with her family to propose that weekend. April’s parents were fixing to sell April’s childhood home that she love so much, so it was mostly empty at this time. Kirby came the day before his intended visit and decorated the house. The next day, with her family, they went to the house and inside it was decorated with twinkle lights and pictures of them throughout the years. He also made his own “marry me” signage. It was beautiful and a perfect last memory in that home.
This Kimbell Art Museum Engagement was absolutely perfect! We always love how the architecture helps us create beautiful imagery of our couple. April wore a beautiful yellow dress that photographed so well with the location. Furthermore, we had great weather and a very special time with these two. We cannot wait for their wedding at the Hillside Estate in December!
