Ritika + Joel’s wedding at the Hillside Estate was the absolute perfect summer wedding. When two doctors get married, you know the day is going to be super smooth and stress free. We loved everything about them.

The Couple + Love Story

Once upon a time in a land far far away (far like 10 hours away) in El Paso, Texas, there was a second year medical student, Joel, and a first year medical student, Ritika who had no clue that their soulmate was just across the mountain. Their first encounter was when their mutual friends wanted to go to Alamo Drafthouse for Tuesday Trivia night. Like every standard fairytale, they only spoke a few words to each other and went their separate ways. Afterwards, over the next few weeks, Joel and Ritika’s paths crossed multiple times, both in school and outside of it, almost as if it was a sign. On one of these occasions, Joel told Ritika that he had a dog, Samantha, and well you can say the rest is history.

Throughout the last 3 years, Joel and Ritika have spent countless hours together doing everything from studying to taking trips to New Mexico. Statistically, the activity they spent the most time on was eating Speedy’s pizza (if you know, you know). Furthermore, they really truly just enjoy being in each others company. In addition, their favorite activities together include going on adventures to new places, cooking together, trying out restaurants, and taking Joel’s dog Sam to the park.

The Proposal Story

On December 26th, 2022, Ritika went to spend quality time with the Rodgers’ family. After spending the day playing board games together, Joel told Ritika that they were going to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens to see Christmas lights. Next, when they reached the Cathedral of Lights portion of the exhibit, Joel got down on one knee and proposed to Ritika! Lastly, the night was ended with the sweetest surprise dinner together with both of their families.

The Hillside Estate Wedding Details

Ritika and Joel’s Hillside Estate wedding was filled with color and tradition. Since they are a multi cultural couple, they wanted to fuse Ritika’s Indian traditions with western traditions. Thus, they had an outfit change after the ceremony. In addition, their ceremony included many Indian, as well as western traditions. Likewise, the party began with Indian group performances, and ended with everyone on the dance floor. It was truly the most perfect day with the sweetest couple!
