Read how we have made our new Texas house into a cottage inspired home!
This month of July has been a truly exciting month for us, and we have been a bit m.i.a from blogging, but we’re back =) This month we moved across the country to the South, and made Texas our new home. We are officially Texas and New York photographers and are incredibly happy to be close to our families! We can truly say that we have been blessed by God with so much, and are so grateful for the amazing family, friends, and clients who have been nothing but supportive with this new journey. Our hearts are truly over joyed with the love and support and we want to say thank you!
Also, none of this would have been possible, if God didn’t open doors, and if we did not have the help of our amazing realtor Amy Lane, and the great work of Denise and her mortgage team. They were so great every step of the way, and made the daunting task of buying a Texas house all the way from New York stress free! We really are so grateful!
This month we moved across the country to the South, and made Texas our new home. And though we are not yet finished, we can say that we have come a long way and are so happy with how everything is turning out.
For us, cooking and eating is such an important family moment. Both of our families always need to cook and eat when we’re together. This makes the dining room and kitchen extra special. We wanted a big enough table, that wasn’t huge, but also felt “home-y” for our dining space and our West-Elm reclaimed wood dining table did just that. We are seriously in love with it!! It really adds to the relaxed, country house feeling we were going for, while still looking incredibly sophisticated. The little details such as the candles, tree stump, and golden silverware compliment it so well, without taking away from its already charming nature.
On the other hand our kitchen was already gorgeous and updated when we first bought the house, and it was truly one of the things that really sold us. The marble countertops paired with the dark wood cabinets had our style written all over it. After we bought the house we added a few appliances, china wear, and greenery and our kitchen was perfect. We love cooking in it so much!
For us having our friends and family over, and having enough space for them and us to feel comfortable was essential. Thus, the goal for our living room was for it to have a cozy cottage like feel that our new southern hearts would love. Our color palate was blue, beige, and white since they naturally make people feel relaxed and really lighten up any room. For our furniture, comfort was key and we are so in love with the comfort of our coaches. Not only are they gorgeous, be they are oh-so cozy. We love cozying up on them and watching movies, or lounging with guests. Our fire place, and the minimalistic details, compliment this relaxing environment, while also adds a little bit of us to our place.
Out of all the rooms in the house, the only bedroom we have gotten the time to furnish is our room. This has slowly become one of the coziest rooms in the house. Our tufted bed is as comfortable as it is beautiful, and we couldn’t be happier with the colors we chose. They really compliment the room well and provide a light and airy feel. The final peace to our room was the frame with Psalms 126:3, which really speaks to how we feel. The Lord has truly blessed us, and we are so overjoyed with him!
Our office space is one of the first rooms people pass through in our house and is a place we spend so much of our time. We wanted to make sure that this room felt as cozy as the rest, and really motivated us to work. We pretty much stuck with the white and blue color pallet for this room. In addition, we added some gold touches here and there to liven up the room. Our book case is such an awesome piece to this room since it not only adds décor, but it adds storage as well. We also made sure to have cute motivational signs in this space as well as greenery, because again this is our work space, and we want it to motivate us to do the best work possible for our amazing clients.
We truly had to leave the best for last, our pool! Summer in Texas has been one word-HOT! Our pool has really helped us escape this heat, while also allowing for some awesome times. There is nothing like going to your backyard, and lounging while having dinner, and then going in for a dip in the pool. This is definitely the cherry on top. As we have said before, we are so happy, and so thankful to God, and also our family, friends, and clients who have been so helpful and amazing in this move! We are so excited to share our new upcoming Texas weddings, as well as our future weddings in New York. We’re officially a two-state photography business!
